Gay/Straight Alliances

September is back to school time. For many gay and lesbian students school can feel unsafe. They are called names, picked on, the subject of jokes, or worse, physically attacked by other students or even teachers. Fortunately, more and more schools are starting gay/straight alliances to help combat this bigotry. As can be expected, gay/straight alliances have met some resistance from conservative groups and reluctanct parents. Read about both sides of the issue.
