Same Sex Marriages Continue in Portland, Oregon

Despite a statement from the Attorney General that gay marriages are against the law in Oregon, the Multnomah County Commissioners decided to let same-sex couples continue to wed. Attorney General Hardy Meyers issued an opinion on Friday stating that gay marriages go against Oregon Marriage Law, but prohibiting them is also probably a violation of the Oregon Constitution. The County Commissioners, when making their decision stated that Meyer's opinion "offers no assurance whatsoever that Multnomah County will not be sued successfully by any same-sex couple who is denied a license."
