Missouri Voters Ban Gay Marriage

Voters in Missouri voted to amend their state constitution to ban gay and lesbian marriges. Missouri already has a Defense of Marriage law in place, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman. This latest vote writes those words into the state constitution. The measure passed with a 75% vote. Four other states, Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Nevada have already amended their constitutions to ban gay marriage. Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Michigan, North Dakota and Ohio will all put the issue of gay marriage up to the voters this year.
