Vice President Dick Cheney, who has a lesbian daughter, Mary Cheney, spoke out yesterday in favor of gay relationships. In direct opposition to President Bush's stance, Cheney said he thinks the states should decide on the issue of gay marriage. President Bush supports a constitutional ban on gay marriage. On the eve of the Republican Convention, gay rights activists accused the Republican party of trying to have it both ways: appealing to both conservative and moderate voters.
