Michigan Womyn's Music Festival

Every year in August for more than 10 years, I would load up my car with camping gear and head out to the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival. I've been to many lesbian events, like Dyke Marches, Dinah Shore and Girlbar, L.A. Still, there is no place on earth like the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival. Imagine spending a week solely in the company of women, without seeing a man for days! Imagine a world run entirely by women. Women hook up the plumbing, load in all the sound and stage equipment, perform all the instruments and cook food or thousands of other women, all in outdoor fire pits. Sure, you can go on a lesbian cruise or to a lesbian bar, but only at Michigan will you not see a man for an entire week. The experience can be life changing. And that's not even mentioning the amazing entertainment, crafts and workshops. I still say every dyke needs to attend Michigan at least once in her lifetime.
