Lesbian Historical Fiction

Saturday September 24, 2005
I love to read. Sometimes when life gets stressful, I love nothing more than traveling to another time and place through someone else's eyes. One of the best vehicles for that is Lesbian Historical Fiction. Here are a few of my favorite's:

Fingersmith by Sarah Waters is not the Victorian novel of your mother's time! Full of lesbian lust, thievery, deceit and greed, in Fingersmith you're not even sure who the good guys and bad guys are.

On the sweeter side is Patience and Sarah by Isabel Miller. Two women in the early 1800s New England try to figure out how to live and love together.

Beyond the Pale by Elana Dykewomon is a beautifully written bittersweet tale of two Jewish women who immigrate to New York City in the early 1900s.
