The United States Supreme Court: Harriet Miers is out and Samuel Alito is in. Not only was Harriet Miers was not only not experienced enough, apparently she was also not conservative enough for many of President Bush's right-wing supporters. After Miers pulled herself from the running for Supreme Court Justice, President Bust appointed someone who has the support of the conservative right-wing: Samuel Alito. What does this mean for gays and lesbians? Is all hope lost for the possibility of gay marriage in the United States in our lifetime? There are many other issues of importance that could be decided by the Supreme Court in the coming years: like immigration, the right to privacy in our own homes, the right to work free from discrimination and protection for our families.
