Great Lesbian Easter Egg Roll

For weeks the anticipation has been brewing. Gay and lesbian families had decided to take part in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll just to show that gay and lesbian families exist. They decided to wear rainbow leis as a way to identify themselves. Somehow this was considered controversial. White House staffers feared negative publicity (as if things could get any worse in that realm) and mainstream media viewed it as a protest. Gay and lesbian families just wanted to get together and have a good time at an All-American event. So how did it go? Here's an essay from a lesbian family who attended the event.
