Jerry Falwell's Legacy with the Gay Community

Jerry Falwell, who died Tuesday, leaves quite a legacy. There are many who will remember him fondly as a man of great faith and conviction. But the gay community will likely remember Jerry Falwell as someone who preached intolerance. Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said, "We will always remember him as a founder and leader of America's anti-gay industry, someone who exacerbated the nation's appalling response to the onslaught of the AIDS epidemic, someone who demonized and vilified us for political gain and someone who used religion to divide rather than unite our nation." Why would he say such a thing?

Okay, so it’s mean to say that I’m glad someone died, however, he was such a hate-filled person. I’m not glad a person died, but I am glad that he can no longer spew such venom.

Okay, so yesterday I felt noble. But today I re-read some of the junk he said while he was alive, and thought “Wow, I’m so glad he’s dead!”
Many of us will remember him as the racist he was in the 1950s and 60s as well as the anti-Semite, woman hating homophobe he became.
Put a Rev. in front of your name and you can spew all sorts of stupidity and bigotry in the name of your invisible bully pal in the sky and no one will call you on it.
There is no heaven nor hell. He’s dead and rotting now.

I was appalled at the things mr. falwell said over the years and i can honestly say i am sad that he is gone, I wonder if he went to heaven??? He has spewed alot of hate over the years, and left alot of garbage behind, I guess his secrets will come out of the closet now!!!!

I never listen to the nonesense that these bible thumping bigoted TV evengelists have to say because they’re ALL hypocrites! Jesus’ fundamental message was LOVE, so anyone who preaches HATE can NOT be a true Christian. I’m relieved he can no longer preach his hateful message!

It is my firm belief that once we pass from this reality, all questions are answered, all misconceptions realized. So be happy that he finally understands the error of his ways. Too bad he can’t come back and re-educate his followers, but, that’s each person’s path.

The man was motivated by money, power, and sex. I had basically chosen to forget the guy. Anyone that would use God for profit should end up where Jerry is–> HELL! Ever noticed how TV preachers dress? Where u suppose all that wardrobe money comes from? Go away evil doers!! Their reward is with Satin.
