Reason #11 to be Proud: Daughters of Bilitis
Monday June 11, 2007
The Daughters of Bilitis was the first national lesbian organization in the United States. It was started in the 1950s as a social organization, a place for lesbians to meet eachother outside of the bars. Soon it became involved in the early homosexual rights movement. The Daughters of Bilitis paved the way for lesbians of today. The brave women of this organization of early lesbian activism makes me proud: Daughters of Bilitis.
