L Word Recap 506

By , About.com GuideFebruary 11, 2008

Follow me on:

If ever an episode of The L Word left me longing for more, it was this one. Okay, I know there are plenty of Shane-lovers out there, who get all a twitter seeing the sexy hairstylist get it on with various women. But for me, the ultimate turn-ons are the sex scenes between Bette and Tina. And this episode gave me plenty of that. HOT!

More of Lez Girls, The Movie

Jenny and the actors are rehearsing the scene in the movie where Nina (Tina) announces she’s ovulating to Bev (Bette). They’re supposed to celebrate by having sex against the bathroom sink, but the straight actors aren’t quite sure how two girls do that. Tina is going to bring in a lesbian sex coach. I wonder if it’s Felice Newman? I can’t help but think all the Lez Girls scenes are inside jokes. Like the need to teach the straight actors how lesbians have sex. And the bit about filming in Vancouver. Are these all pulled from the real life issues of filming The L Word? If so, brilliant!

She Bar

Shane tires to clear things up with Dawn Denbo and her lover Cindy. But there’s only one thing Dawn will consider. Get She Bar into Jenny’s movie. And leave the Planet out. Since Shane won’t do it, Dawn threatens to put the Planet out of business. Her first strategy? Letting rats loose in The Planet. Kit is baffled. How did rodents get in her establishment? Shane knows, she smells a rat. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Alice & Tasha

I guess Alice & Tasha did break up last week. Alice meets Tasha at the door with a packed suitcase of her things. Alice’s friends want her to call Tasha, I mean you two are obviously in love. But Alice sums it up beautifully. Sometimes that isn’t enough. Sad, but true.

Joan Armatrading

Do you know this singer? If you don’t go check her out immediately. That’s her singing Love and Affection in the background when Tina shows up at Bette’s a few hours early to pick up Angelica. Bette’s doing a little cooking and it seems Tina is the one with the appetite. She doesn’t want to hurt Jodi, but lunges for Bette anyway. They’re both hungry, starving for each other from the looks of things as they make their way to the bedroom. Me, I’m not sated yet. But thankfully there’s another love scene a bit later…

What’s up with Adele?

Jenny takes Adele shopping and she’s outfitted in some hot new clothes. She gets her hair cut exactly like Jenny. And then lies about it to Max. I can’t quite figure out what she has up her sleeve, but I know it’s something. What do you think? Comment below.

Phyllis’s Party

Phyllis is back. I’ve missed her. She’s having a party and Bette shows up, but only long enough to ask Tina if she wants to get out of there. I’m having flashbacks of Bette and Candice from season one. They do say, “Once a cheater, always a cheater,” but forgive me, I can’t help rooting for Bette & Tina here. Anyone else have a moral dilemma about this?

Phyllis gets wild and the party takes a strange twist when all the middle age lesbians take their tops off and dance around in their bras. Geeze, the girls I party with must be too young, because most of them keep their shirts on at my parties. Phyllis is about to launch her bra into the swimming pool when her daughter unexpectedly arrives. Is this going to affect the divorce?

Bette & Tina, Part 2

This time at Tina’s place. Bette doesn’t know what to do. She adores Jodi and respects and admires her, but it doesn’t really compare to what she feels for Tina. Okay ladies, listen up. This kind of temptation might make for good TV, but please, if you find yourself in this situation in real life, don’t do what Bette is doing. Take some time to yourself. Figure it out. Break up with one before you move onto the other.

And Tina, think with your brain instead of your libido. I know you want Bette back, but remember what it felt like when she cheated on you with Candice. Have some respect for Jodi. Obviously I’m preaching to deaf ears. And with sex attraction this strong, I can’t say I’d behave any better than you two right now. Yow!

On the Set of Lez Girls

Trouble on the set with prima donna Nikki. She won’t say the lines the way Jenny wants her to. Turns out she feels like Jenny is snuffing her. Jenny needs to reassure her in her trailer. But oops. Nikki still has her microphone on and the whole crew can hear them. How cliché is that?

Then Dawn Denbo shows up and she’s trying to shut the filming down because she is “Upset at how the movie portrays lesbians as conniving, promiscuous, sex fiends.” Where have we heard that before? But no worries, the girls are paid off by Walter, Daddy Money Bags for $5,000 each. The show will go on!

I always enjoy reading your thoughts but would you mind correcting L Word Recap 506 “On the Set of Lez Girls” to say Jenny, not Tina? Thanks much! ~C~

I loved this episode – so much better than last week. Bette and Tina alone made it worthwhile, but all the rest just made it better than ever. I did my own recap over on my blog if you want to check it out;)

Does anyone else just want to slap the crap out of this Dawn Bimbo..I mean Denbo chick???She is seriously getting on my nerves picking on Shane and now the planet. Okay hypothetically..is it really cheating when your heart has always been with the person you are “cheating” with? Jodi is wonderful but she just doesn’t fit with Bette..Tina fits. I want more Shane..more Shane being Shane. For the love of God don’t let Alice turn into the person she did after Dana broke up with her. I didn’t like that Alice she had a sucky personality and she was sooooooo whiny. I like it when Alice is strong and funny and not taking anyones shit!!!!

actually… i thought that it was Max who lied about Adele’s haircut. I’m not really sure and can’t figure out and been looking around for answers. But Adele definitely didn’t say it was uncomfortable. so who’s the one thats lying? o.O

TIBETTE YAY!!!!!!

Yeah stupid Dawn Bimbo, she’s so damned annoying!!! I wish Kit would release kangeroos in She Bar already. Bigger rodents than yours, take that!!

Adele was the one who lied. She said that it was “Shane’s idea”, and that she didn’t really want it. I agree though, a little awkwardness in the continuity there.

Adele seems like she wants to take over Jenny’s place, even texting the higherups on her own to request filming in LA and not Vancouver.

I totally heart Tibette… I detest cheating but eh…. I’m sure no one can take Tina’s place in Bette’s heart so it’s justified! They belong together!!!

Lots of people have been comparing Jenny & Adele’s storyline to the movie All About Eve. It’s an interesting theory. There’s definitely something going on there. Adele totally creeps me out.

I’ve been feeling so bad for Max this season. It seems like barely anyone is giving him the time of day (well, as always, really). I’ve liked him since he was Moira and it makes me depressed. Where the heck are the writers going with his character? It seems like he’s always been bobbing around, so disconnected from everyone, ever since he and Jenny broke up.
