L Word Season Five Finale

Lez Girls

Funny how suddenly everyone is pleased with how Jenny was directing Lez Girls. Earlier in the season, everyone hated her. But now she’s gone. With Adele at the helm, who knows what will happen to this hip little lesbian film. They found a major distributor but there’s just one little problem. Jesse needs to go back to men at the end. Tina thinks it’s a bad idea. She’s furious, irate. Because Jenny wrote this amazing ending that is so empowering to young gay women. Adele doesn’t care about that. All she cares about is herself. So she kicks Tina off the set and does what the boys want. And now Lez Girls is just another Three of Hearts or Chasing Amy where the lesbian goes with the man…

The Bitch is Back

Yea! The return of Helena! And I must say she looks fabulous! Mummy Peggy is airlifted in, bitten by some rare and potentially deadly jellyfish. Even as she nears death, her main concern is Helena’s wardrobe. Gotta love a woman who has her priorities straight. But at least she did one thing right. She puts Helena back in the will and restores her trust fund. Which is going to help some friends out real soon.

Molly is a Spoiled Brat

Molly and Shane are still sleeping together and apparently Molly has gotten used to the fact that Shane has boobs, probably because they’re so small. On her way to meet her mom for brunch, she pouts and acts like a child, when she sees that Joyce is there. The last thing Molly wants is to be on some lesbian double date with her mom. But Shane talks her into it. Molly then announces to her mother that she’s giving up an internship at the Supreme Court to go surfing with Shane in Hawaii. Ha! Like that’s going to go over well. Phyllis decides the problem is all Shane and confronts her later that evening. Molly is one the most brilliant students she’s ever encountered, even if she is her mother, but Shane is not worthy of her. Phyllis gets all mean and nasty, saying that even Shane’s friends say she’s bad news. Shane caves under the pressure. She breaks up with Molly. Who surprises me by actually takes it quite well and mature.

The New Owners of The Planet

Dawn Denbo and her lover Cindi are busy trying to redecorate The Planet. But luckily Helena has returned. With Mummy’s cash in hand, she can afford to buy back the Planet and She Bar too. When Helena shows up at She Bar to seduce Cindi out of the business and into her pants, listen close to that music. It sounds suspiciously like that hideous track that plays when you go to the Girl Bar website. (Good work EZ Girl!) There’s a big showdown at the club and Dawn Denbo goes down in flames and her lover Cindi finally stands up to her.

Jodi’s Revenge

Jodi has a big art show. Everyone’s there. It’s a really big to do. Bette’s been working on her introduction speech for days. She says all kinds of amazing things about Jodi. And the art piece is unveiled. The piece is called Core. Because it’s about core values: Love, honesty and commitment. But really what it is, is some weird huge video of Bette, making her look like an asshole. It’s about the meanest thing I have ever seen in my life and the look on Bette’s face is devastating. It’s the most humiliating thing. Why would Jodi do that? It’s so evil. But more importantly HOW did she do it? Jodi is deaf. How did she sync the images with the voice?

Tasha's Career Crisis

Tasha’s having a crisis. She doesn’t know what to do with herself after the army. She took a job as a security guard, but that sucks. She runs into an old friend who is a cop and she decides to sign up to be one too. She looks so happy about it. If only she knew what was looming…

Alice has a new Crush

Alice goes to meet that fashion designer who was on The Look last week and they take a little twirl on her scooter. Clea is her name and she’s disappointed that Alice has a girlfriend. Alice says she’s disappointed too. Not the first sign that there’s trouble on the home front. Clea persists, “It’s perfectly natural to meet someone and be attracted to them. Even if you’re in a relationship with someone else.” The she moves in for a kiss. But for once someone shows some integrity and Alice stops her. But we all know where this is going.

That’s a Wrap

It’s a wrap party for Lez Girls. I couldn’t help but wonder if the L Word producers also thought it was a wrap party for their own show. After all, when they filmed, they had no idea if they would be picked up for a sixth season or not. But happily, we’ll be back next year for one more season.

The Mighty Shane has Fallen

What is the one thing Shane always had going for her? Sure she may fool around with different women, leave women at the altar, and party a bit too much, but she’s always been there for her friends. Except for now. All season she’s been talking about Jenny as her best friend. She quit the movie to stick with Jenny. She’s stood up for Jenny on many occasions, even when others speak poorly of her. But Shane is low now. She just dumped a girl because her mother said she was not worthy. And being Shane, she medicates with female flesh. Unfortunately that female is Nikki, Jenny’s love. And Jenny catches them. Devastation. It’s the ultimate betrayal. You’ve broken Jenny’s heart Shane and mine too.

The End....until next year.

Ok so The Lez Girl Fiasco was farfetched, we all knew the video was going to be taken but come on who takes a video, a harem tent, and big ole harnesses and dildo’s on a bike race for breast cancer. Where are your priorities. I always liked Helena, I’m glad she was able to help Kit. (Although very careless of Kit to throw a loaded gun registered to her and with her fingerprints on it, in a rubbish bin.) Molly is spoiled first she doesnt want Shane, then she takes Shane then she humilate and berates Shane. She got her just dessert go back to your preppy boyfriend and preppy life. The Jodi scene this was corny and obvious to me anyways, her little puppet enterpreter helped out. I was happy for Tasha, why does Alice get to do what she wants but is so down on Tasha, who has finally found her niche. Then Alice has wandering eyes again. Can’t any couple stay together it gives us a bad name. Finally Shane, come on Shane you did the right thing kicking that preppy to the curb why.. Whyyyyyyyyyy..even though Jenny is a flake.. you don’t sell out your best friend, that’s just wrong. Bette and Tina Back together again, well its gone a full circle, TLW has. I hope next year doesn’t make it fall apart even more. Yours truly, an avid About: Lesbian Life reader, The Nurse

I was so appalled at Shane going after her best friend’s girl… I had to fast forward through the scene! I mean really, how low will they take Shane’s character. Molly was a trouper when Shane crapped out on her. Has anyone else noticed how much “Molly” actually LOOKS like “Phyllis”? I wonder if that character is Cybil Shepherd’s daughter in the real world.
I also wondered like The Nurse if Kit throwing that gun in the dumpster will come back to haunt her–not smart!
I enjoyed the Tine and Bette reunions!
Looking forward to next season already!

LOL! I never would have guessed the “Tibette” reference! Any thoughts on whether the “Molly” character is really Cybil Shepherd’s daughter?

I googled it and yes Molly, played by,(Clementine Ford), who plays Phyllis’ daughter, is Cybill Shepherd’s daughter in real life.

i think Shane(no matter how hot she is)shouldnt have caved and dumped molly let alone slept with jenny’s girl! i found it disappointing that Lez girls got sabotaged by adele and that jenny and tina never got it back. i think helena should be back again for next season. i missed her so much when she went away for awhile. I love this show! I’m a straight girl who got to watch it because of her lesbian friend and has been hooked since season1. I cant wait for next season!
