Back in the early 90s, I used to go out a lot to see riot grrl bands. One of my favorite bands was called "The Third Sex." They got their name from an old term for homosexuality. Some people who hear it today might think "Third Sex" refers to transgender people. But it does not. Learn more about the origin of the term The Third Sex.
Another old term for homosexuality is "The Love that Dare Not Speak its Name." The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name was a phrase from a poem in 1896 when homosexuality was a criminal offense.
