Day of Silence: 4/25/08
Sunday April 20, 2008
Can keeping quiet change the world? Hundreds of thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans activists and their allies think so. On April 25th students from middle schools, high schools and colleges with hold their tongues for all or part of the day to show support for LGBT youth. The Day of Silence, a project of Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, is a nationwide, student-led event during which thousands of high schools and colleges bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools.
This year's Day of Silence is especially meaningful, in light of the murder of gay teen Lawrence King in February. Find out more about the Day of Silence and how you can get involved.
