Martina Navratilova is one of the first public figures to come out of the closet. The Czechoslovakia-born tennis star is one of the most successful tennis players of all time. She dated author Rita Mae Brown and she came out as bisexual in 1980. She paid a price. Although she was one of the greatest players to play the game, she did not receive the sponsorship one would have expected from a player of her caliber.

i think that it has taken alot of courage and poise for Martina to be able to stand up and be recognized for the person that she truly is. She is still one of the most recognized, and truly loved women of our time.
I have alot of respect for her standing up for the way that she wanted to live her life, and the fact that she did not back down from that. From my own experience coming out with family and friends, given that I have 4 great daughters, this was the hardest and the most rewarding thing that I have ever done with my life.
Some of my family did notunderstandit, and then again, some said yea we know so what your still the same person. just as long as long as your happy in your choices.
I hope that Martina is happy with all of her life choices she has made, because she is not only a great lady, she deserves the best!!

I don’t quite have that courage yet, hard when it affects children and long marriage…but i think the time is coming quickly to be out.
Martina has always been an idol of mine – such a courageous woman of strength and how she’s further forged a place for lesbians in society. I admire you very much Martina – and yes, Martina is VERY HOT!
