On this day when many are celebrating the passage of health care reform, I thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge a lesbian who has been fighting for LGBT issues in congress as an openly-gay elected official.
Tammy Baldwin is the first non-incumbent, openly gay person to serve in Congress. She is also the first woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from the State of Wisconsin. And she voted for health care reform last night.

I’ve known Tammy for 20 years (since was on the city council in Madison), and she’s the real deal. I’m extremely happy with the work she’s doing for her constituency in Wisconsin, and she’s doing while out and proud!
Tammy is a real woman! Someone have to sort all problems and I hope that voting for health reform is just her first step!
