Newt Gingrich on LGBT Issues

Newt Gingrich is, at the moment, at the front of the republican primary race. Well, in the polls anyway. When Newt emerged as a front-runner, his lesbian sister reemerged as an outspoken opponent of his anti-gay policies. And, in a candid interview, wonders if her brother is really as anti-gay as he says he is. Where does Newt Gingrich stand on issues important to the LGBT community?

We have to stop these people from being elected into office. Vote not only in the Presidential elections, but the midterms as well. See the article below that references one of our Senators from Oklahoma – an outrage!

Senator Jim Inhofe’s remarks to the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce on Monday December 12, 2011. While addressing the chamber on political candidates, energy policies and the nation’s financial situation, Senator Inhofe chose to weigh in on the recent repeal of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT) policy which prevented lesbian and gay people from serving openly in the military. As reported by Tulsa World staff writer Randy Krehbiel:
Inhofe also reassured his audience that the lifting of the military’s “Don’t Ask and Don’t Tell” policy regarding gay service members has not “legalized bestiality” in the military. He explained that, although gay people may now “go in the military, go wide open, and use that for their agenda,” sex with animals is still outlawed by military code.
When you go out and talk to people on the street, they’ll tell you, ‘Oh, they’ve legalized bestiality, ‘… but that hasn’t changed.

Oh, he probably just smiles and “tolerates” them. It’s easy to ignore interracial couples at family gatherings, and enjoy the credit when they tell the other relatives “oh, maybe s/he’s not that bad because they didn’t say mean things to our face!” While it’s optimistic to give others the benefit of the doubt, the LGBT community ultimately knows that the true heart speaks at the polls and where donations are sent. I won’t vote for Newt, Mitt, Bachmann, and the rest of the “repuglican” candidates. I intend to vote for Obama in 2012 and, if she’s again inclined, for Hillary in 2016!
