Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. It's a day that we set aside to remember those who have been murdered, attacked or discriminated against because of their gender identity. Events will take place all over the world. Reading through the list of people killed this past year is sobering. Beautiful young people from Brazil, California, Maryland, Mexico, Florida and India.
Today is a day that we memorialize those who we've lost, but to celebrate the lives and contributions of transgender people. The Huffington Post has a list of 50 transgender icons that is worth checking out.
