There's been a lot of push this year to shop local and with small businesses. I'm even seeing advertisements on TV for "Small Business Saturday." I think this is a great idea. I'm always in favor of supporting small, local and women-owned businesses. So, for this year's lesbian gift guide, I made sure to seek out small and lesbian-owned businesses for Lesbian Gift Guide 2012.

Another good idea: the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has a great online store, including t-shirts, jewelry, and other items. Many other advocacy groups have online stores, so if your partner has a particular cause she supports, this can be an especially good gift idea.
