Being Trans is No Longer a "Disorder"

The DSM or Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, is a tool that many therapists, doctors, psychiatrists and insurance companies use to classify mental disorders and their treatment. Back in 1973, the gay and lesbian community celebrated when "homosexuality" was removed from the DSM and no longer was considered a mental disorder. Many trans activists are feeling the same sense of celebration to learn that "Gender Identity Disorder" is no longer going to be included in the DSM.
