Have you ever wondered where the most LGBT people live in the United States? Would you guess states like California, New York or Florida? Well, if you did, you'd be wrong. Would South Dakota even be on your list? In fact, according to a recent Gallup Poll, the percentage of gays and lesbians in South Dakota is higher than Massachusetts, New York or Florida. It turns out Washington, DC has the highest percentage of LGBT people, with a whopping 10% of the population reporting to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
And what about the places with the least amount of LGBT people? Some of those on this list probably won't surprise you, like North Dakota and Mississippi and Tennessee. But would you guess that one of the states with the lowest percentage of LGBT people is a state where same-sex marriage is legal? Check out that list here.
What do you make of these statistics? Think they're accurate? Or do you think the polling was flawed?
