I first heard of Bitch years ago when she was performing as part of the group
Bitch & Animal. My friend talked me into going to an all-ages club to see this dyke feminist duo whose hit song "Pussy Manifesto" was blowing the minds of music fans young and old. Now on her own, Bitch is sometimes more subtle, sometimes more fierce and always very feminist. I had the chance to sit down and talk to her before her Portland, Oregon show. She talked about her album
Make This/Break This and her new band,
The Exciting Conclusion, that she started with her girlfriend Daniela Sea of
The L Word fame. She also shared her thoughts about the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival's womyn-born womyn policy and working with musician extraordinaire Ferron.
Here's my one-on-one interview with Bitch.

I am incredibly disappointed in Bitch for her trans-misogynist attitude. I am also disappointed in Ms. Belge for dedicating such a large portion of her published interview to Bitch’s trans-bashing rant. The fact is that the womyn-born-womyn policy at MWMF has become the standard for how MtF transwomen are treated in other womyn-only institutions. It may not seem like a big deal at a music festival, but it has been a very real safety issue for transwomen at battered women’s shelters and rape crisis centers. Transwomen are, by far, the most vulnerable members of our community and often have nowhere to turn to when they are victims of violence. Those of us who are womyn-born (I hate to even use that term) need to stand up for our trans sisters and stop tolerating this bigotry within our community.
