In celebration of California’s new Domestic Partnership ruling, Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels tied the knot today in Los Angeles.
Two-time Grammy winner, Etheridge made headlines in 1993 when she came out at an inaugural celebration for President Bill Clinton.
According to 365 gay.com, the celebration included many celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston and Helen Hunt.
California’s Domestic Partner’s Rights and Responsibilities Act was signed by Governor Gray Davis on Friday. The law, which is similar to Vermont’s Civil Unions, awards gay and lesbian couples rights in child custody, access to married student housing and financial and property rights and responsibilities. The law takes effect January 2005.
