Anna Paquin - Coming Out for a Cause:

Anna Paquin, star of the popular vampire TV show True Blood came out as bisexual to support the rights of LGBT people. Anna Paquin declared, "I'm bisexual," on the website We Give a Damn started by gay rights supporter Cyndi Lauper.

Giving a Face to Bisexuality:

By coming out as bisexual, Anna Paquin, who is engaged to True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer joined celebrities Cyndi Lauper, Wanda Sykes, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Nixon, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Jason Mraz, Kim Kardashian and Clay Aiken in trying to raise awareness for LGBT issues.

Academy Award Winning Actress:

Anna Paquin is a talented actress. She won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1993 at age 11 for her role in The Piano. She was born in Canada, but grew up in New Zealand. Her films include Fly Away Home (1996), Jane Eyre (1996), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), The Squid and the Whale (2005, Finding Forrester (2000) and Amistad (1997).

She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama for True Blood in 2009

Speaking out for LBGT Rights:

Speaking for the Give a Damn campaign, which is is designed to get people, especially straight people, to think about LGBT rights, Anna Paquin said in a video she gives a damn "Because one hate crime is committed every hour of every day in this country."

Other issues brought to light in the campaign are marriage equality, teen suicide, hate crimes and LGBT teen homelessness.
