Best Fall Dates for Lesbians
Enjoy the Season with Your Favorite Gal

By , About.com Guide

Each season has a mood. With shorter days and crisp evenings, Fall is a great time to rekindle your romance. Walk hand in hand down a leaf strewn path and then cuddle at home in front of a warm fire. Here are some great ideas for Fall Lesbian Dates.

1. Go for a country drive

Fall is the perfect time to load up the car with some snacks, your camera and a few CDs and head out of town. Veer off the beaten path and discover a small town diner, browse a country antique store or stop for apples at a roadside stand. To add to the romance, make a mixed CD of love songs to play for her as you traverse the country lovers lanes.

2. Go Wine Tasting

Combine the country drive with a few stops at local vineyards. Fall is a great time to smell the grapes coming off the vines and to sample what your local vineyard has to offer. Pick up a few bottles of your favorite to save for future "at home" dates.

3. Attend a Reading at a Local Bookstore

Pick up the arts section of your newspaper and see what authors are coming to town. Borders or Barnes & Noble often sponsor authors, or better yet, check out your local independent bookstore. Or attend a poetry reading/open mic night at a small coffee house. Really want to impress your date? Write her a love poem and sign up to read it at the open mic.

4. Go Horseback Riding

What lesbian doesn't love horses? Look in the yellow pages for horseback rides. You'll probably need to make a reservation in advance. Canter on the beach or trot through a wooded trail with your animal-loving companion and it will be a date she'll remember for a long time.

5. Hit some Balls

Do both of you have too much stress in your lives? Spend an afternoon at a batting cage hitting baseballs or a driving range smacking golf balls as hard as you can. You'll feel the tension start to subside and with any luck, the two of you will be laughing and joking in no time.

6. Place a Bet at a Casino

Visit Atlantic City, a Mississippi Riverboat, Las Vegas or a local Indian reservation and spend some time playing Blackjack, pulling the slots or betting a game of craps. If either of you wins big, splurge for a nice dinner and romantic hotel room.

7. Eight ball in Corner Pocket Date

Stop by the lesbian bar early, before the crowds, or head to a local pool hall and challenge each other to a game of eight ball. Or better yet, team up and take on another couple.

8. Climb the Highest Mountain

Go to the highest point in your town, whether it be a tall building with a restaurant atop or a hilltop park and sip a glass of wine while you watch the sunset.

9. Attend a Fall Festival

Oktoberfest. Apple Fest. Folk Music Festival. Corn maze. Great pumpkin patch festival. Greek Fest. Italian Fest. Lesbian Festival. Festivals are great and inexpensive places to sample new food, hear live music and enjoy cultural activities. If you've got kids, bring them along. Make it a family date!

10. Take a Hike

Fall is my favorite time to go hiking. The trails are less crowded, the air is cooler and the colors more vibrant. Pack your day packs with apples and cheese, load up the dogs and head to your favorite waterfall, lake or forest trail. Something about being out in nature nourishes the soul and helps you connect more authentically with one another.
