Best Winter Date Ideas for Lesbians

By , About.com Guide

Looking for ideas for a perfect lesbian date this winter? Here are some fun and romantic idea for winter lesbian dates.

1. Snowshoe with your Sweety

What's more romantic than walking through a the woods on a snowy afternoon? The best thing about snowshoeing is that you don't need any particular skill or athletic ability. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Rent snowshoes from your local sporting goods store, pick up a good map, dress warmly and head to the trail.

2. Chocolate Date

The last date I took my girl on was to a chocolate bar. In addition to selections of carmels, truffles and bittersweet candy bars, this place served hot liquid chocolate. Not hot chocolate, like the drink with milk, but hot drinking chocolate. It was superb. And romantic. Even if you don't have a special chocolate bar where you live, take her to your favorite dessert place. Or go to a fancy restaurant and only order dessert.

3. Go See the Lights

Bundle up with thermal mugs of hot chocolate and walk around your neighborhood looking at the different Christmas light displays. Or hop in the car and check out a local drive-through display. Is she really a Christmas fanatic. Why not surprise her with a trip to one of the most Christmasy places in America.

4. Happy Hour

Winter is a time to do things early. The sun sets before dinner and if you don't get out of the house before you settle in, you're bound to never leave at all. Happy hour makes a great date for this reason, plus drinks and food are usually cheaper. Happy hour is a great way to explore a more expensive restaurant you might not otherwise be able to afford.

5. Breakfast in Bed

If you're at the point in your relationship where you're sleeping over, or if you're a long time couple looking to add a bit of romance to your lives, serve her breakfast in bed on Saturday or Sunday morning. Pick out some special sensuous foods like strawberries dipped in chocolate, warm muffins and fresh figs and spend the morning feeding your appetites.

6. Spa Day

Head to the spa together for facials, a hot tub soak or a massage. Nothing says "I love you" more than pampering her and treating her like a queen.

7. Retro Date Night

Theme dates are fun and retro nights are big right now. Whether it's disco bowling or 70s lesbian dance party, half the fun is getting ready for the date by shopping for cool duds to wear.

8. Treasure Hunt Date

This date takes some planning, but the pay-off can be great. Leave your lady clues that will take her on an adventure. Come up with 3-5 places you want to take her on this special date, one clue leading to the next. If possible, involve wait staff or friends in on the surprise. Drinks lead to dinner which leads to a movie. Dinner leads to dessert which leads to dancing. The treasure hunt date is especially fun when it leads to something unexpected, like a chance to meet her favorite performer backstage or tickets to a sold out performance.

9. Dog Sled or Carriage Ride

Most lesbians love animals. What better way to enjoy a horse, than by a romantic carriage ride through the city on a wintery night? Cuddle up under the blankets and gallop around Central Park. Or of you live closer to Juneau, take her for a real rush, a ride through the woods behind a sled team of happy huskies.

10. Ice Skating or Roller Skating

Is there a more quintessential winter activity than ice-skating? Where I live the local skating rink has gay skate night. Even if the rink is not filled with queers, roller skating or ice skating makes a great date. You could just be holding hands to make sure the other doesn't fall, right?
