If you’re a geeky dyke who loves to game, or are desperately trying to hit on one but are clueless about her world (I’m more of the latter, personally), check out this cool newish site that boasts the tagline: “Because sometimes we use our hands for other things.” Founded in October 2007, LesbianGamers.com serves the gay girls obsessed with this male-dominated pastime.
Good Content Plus Humor
Site content includes gaming news, reviews and cultural commentary, all from a lesbian perspective, as well as plenty of snarky, well-written humor pieces that even non-gamers will enjoy. One post describes the creation of a butchy character for the game Elder Scrolls IV; another one gives a list of the best songs for a hypothetical lesbian version of Guitar Hero. One of my favorite pieces was a rating on the packages of male game characters, in response to the many male gaming sites that rate female characters’ breasts: LesbianGamers called Mario “the Ron Jeremy of gaming.”Girl Game Action
The site’s bloggers also keep a keen eye out for any game with Sapphic, queer or even girl-centric content. Readers can also post comments to any of the articles and include their email or URL, so gay gamers can connect with each other without getting up from their computer screen (most hardcore gamers I know leave the house as little as possible).
