From

Lesbian Life:Tell us about your song writing and some of the things that inspire you to write?

Nekaybaaw: I'm always inspired by life and whatever phase of it I'm going through, I definitely think that my music has reflected the different phases of my life. I like for my music to match what I see in nature an ambient backdrop, mellow music that will inspire positive moods.

You also wrote a film score, what film was it?

It's for a documentary entitled Radical Pedagogy written by filmmaker Angela Carroll and features Angela Davis, it's going into depth about women in prison.

I see you have a pic of Jill Scott on your website is taking pics of celebrities also one of your passions?

Photography is definitely one of my passions, I think you can capture so much in a picture. I'm not just limited to celebrities I do admire going to shows and actually capturing an artist.

Are you lesbian or bisexual?

You know what, if I have to rate myself, I'm lesbian I would almost say bisexual only because I'm open to the possibilities of having the experience of having a child with a man, not necessarily a relationship but a child.

Do you prefer femmes or studs?

I like feminine women.

Are you dating someone?

Yes I am, been with my partner a little over two years.

How difficult is balance a relationship and your music career, I mean are the ladies trying to get at you in the studio, or after the shows?

That's an interesting question and to be honest with you this is probably the first time in any relationship that I can ever say this is by far the easiest relationship to manage when it comes to dealing with that type of thing my partner and I trust each other for what we really are. We're not worried about me doing things when I'm out. When I committee myself to someone, I'm fine with that person and I don't really need to go outside of that unless I feel that there's something missing in my relationship and if I feel like it's missing to that point, I'm probably not going to be with that person. I not a person who has a history of cheating

What projects are you working on now?

Putting the final touches and perfecting my own project. And I'm hoping to release it in the fall and I'm also doing a couple of re-mixes.

Talk to our young readers who may have a passion for music business but is unsure of where to start?

One of the first things I would definitely tell the young people to do and this is me speaking from experience working with younger people; you should learn and understand your craft. You should know what you want to do, if you want to write you should throw yourself into the writing process, find topics that are relevant, your life and the lives of those around you. My first piece of advice is just knowing your craft when you go into the studio you can't come in there like you just decided last week you wanted to do this, there is a lot of hours, time and commitment and you really have to understand as young people, how hard it is to commit.

What's next for Nekaybaaw?

I'm really looking for an artist I can actually produce. I'm really open.

Where can our readers go to experience your music?
