Why Can't I get Wet During Sex?

By , About.com Guide

Question: Why Can't I get Wet During Sex?

I have started seeing this girl and I am very attracted to her. The problem is, I just can't get/stay wet when we have sex. I think its starting to bother her. I admit I still get a little nervous and think I am probably stressing myself out because I don't think it’s going to happen. Could this be the reason?

With other partners I have had the same problem and haven't even orgasmed with them, but with my new girlfriend I have, but only recently. Do you think its just because I keep thinking about it? Orgasm doesn't mean I get wet though does it?

Is there anything I can do?

Answer: It is unlikely that stressing out and thinking about not getting wet is causing your vaginal dryness. According to Web MD vaginal dryness can often be caused by deficiency of the female hormone estrogen. Other causes are certain medications, hypothyroidism, certain skin conditions or vaginitis. You might want to see a doctor to make sure there is not an underlying medical condition causing your vaginal dryness.

In the meantime, you and your partner should invest in some high quality lube. Not only with this lubricate your vagina, it can also increase sensitivity and make sex more fun. Here's more about lube.
