Recap of The L Word, Episode 12 Page 2
“L'Chaim”

By , About.com Guide

Sarah Shahi plays Carmen on The L WordShowtime

Hello Tina

Then Tina walks in and says she has to go to work. “Hello, Tina,” Melvin remarks. Is he finally accepting of Bette & Tina’s relationship, or is he just happy that someone is taking their career seriously? Melvin seems pretty awake and together, so Kit and Bette let him talk them into helping him into the bathroom rather than wait for the nurse. Melvin falls in the bathroom just as the nurse arrives and Bette has to go next door to round up Mark, Jenny and Shane to help get him back in bed. Jenny just stands there watching from the sideline, though. Hmm…

Back at the Planet

Peaches is performing and Shane is excited. So excited that she almost doesn’t notice Carmen standing right next to her. But then she sees her and they smile at each other. That’s it. But it was sweet. And Shane seems almost happy. Who is this Shane?

Shaving Dana

Dana is getting ready for her date, er, I mean, dinner with her ex Lara. Alice wants to know why she’s shaving her legs. “Is Lara going to feel them or something?” When did Dana become the mature one? I think that trip to the sex toy shop was a big breakthrough for her.

The Gangs all here

Shane, Mark, Jenny, Alice and Dana are hanging out with Bette in her backyard, presumably trying to be there for her in her time of need. They’re playing a game where you use one word to describe your dad. Okay, who’s idea was this? Of course when it’s Bette’s turn, she says, “Dying.” How heart breaking is that? Have these people not heard of bringing casseroles when someone is dying? Shane catches a clue and says maybe they should leave. Go bake a casserole, Shane.

Alice is Jealous

Alice drops Dana off for her date, I mean, dinner with Lara. Don’t forget, we have to meet Jenny later. At 10. Alice can’t handle it. You’d better get a grip girl, or Dana will be eating soup out of someone else’s bowl. Jealousy does not suit you, my dear.

Lara and Dana

At dinner Lara is talking about the next place she wants to take Dana. Alice is so worried, but Dana is holding it together. What are you talking about Lara? Dinner. “This is dinner. What you’re talking about is a second dinner.” Touche Dana! And Alice was worried.

Yes, Alice is worried. She is calling and calling Dana’s phone, but she is not answering.

Howling Coyote

Jenny has invited all the girls to this divey strip bar and they’re all confused. Why would Jenny invite us here? Carmen decides to go look for her and gets mauled by a bunch of scary looking guys. Shane to the rescue! As she pulls the cursing Carmen away, Shane just laughs and shouts in her ear, “Do you want to go out sometime?” All Carmen can say is, “What?” Like, what, I didn’t hear you or what, you’re asking me out? Nonplussed, Shane asks again, but we never get to see Carmen’s answer. I’m guessing it’s yes. Remember the chemistry?

Meanwhile Jenny is introduced to the crowd and from behind the stage she starts throwing her shoes onto the stage. She steps out all grungy to some heavy metal song. She doesn’t even try to dance or act sexy, she just starts taking her clothes off, like she did last season so many unfortunate times. She strips to nothing and stands there, “Ta da!” Her friends are confused, but the creepy men seem to like it.

Dana finds Alice at home, where she went to retreat and torture herself with thoughts of Dana and Lara feeding each other soup. Dana wants to know where Alice was. Alice says she is afraid to lose Dana. Dana responds with, “I’m right here.” For now. For now.

Good Bye Ossie Davis

Bette is in the kitchen making tea and Melvin is tossing in the bed, moaning. He looks at the picture of Tina and Bette and suddenly his moaning stops. Bette rushes in, calls Kit and the two of them weep and cry over the body of their deceased father. Very touching. Next week: The L Word Season Finale. Don’t miss it!
