Recap of The L Word, Episode 13 Season Finale Pg 3
“Lacuna”

By Kathy Belge, About.com

Bette Porter from The L WordShowtime

Alice has a revelation

Alice realizes she’s turning into the kind of person she can’t stand. “I didn’t know I was turning into someone who was all smothery and needy and codependent. I can’t think of anything worse.” Thank God. She realizes it and wants to change.

Baby in the Pool

Tina is in labor and Bette is right there by her side. She’s in the birthing pool. Bette is rubbing her shoulders. The baby’s head is right there. The midwife calls for Bette to help get her out of the pool. I thought they were giving birth in the pool. Well, it’s a good thing because the midwife notices meconium, which means the baby is in distress and Tina needs to go to the hospital immediately.

Tina is rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. She’s very upset because it wasn’t supposed to be like this. But then the baby is born and Bette gets to cut the cord. Angelica. I want you to call her Angelica.

Shane has Carmen Over

Carmen agrees to come home with Shane after the Heart concert. Shane pours Carmen a glass of wine and says, “It should probably breathe.” I think Carmen should probably breathe too. She’s not acting right. She turns to go. But Shane says no, I want you to stay. Why is Carmen being so weird? I think she really wants to stay. But she can’t breathe when Shane kisses her neck like that. Finally they kiss and it starts to get hot, but then the electronic music comes up in the background. What’s that?! Carmen, Carmen, Carmen being whispered under the beats. I just had to laugh and it totally broke a really hot moment. And it continues with “Shane, Shane, Shane.” Want to know more about EZ Girl, the genius behind these L Word tracks. About’s Home Recording Guide takes you to her studio. Oh, and one more thing. EZ Girl also a member of Betty.

Carmen and Shane fall onto the bed. Even with the crappy music in the background, you can’t not see the passion between them. And in a moment of passion Shane tells Carmen she loves her. Shane? Has the world turned on it’s head?

Jenny and her Inner child

Jenny is taking the bus home. She gets on and sits next to a child, which is really Jenny as a small child. Jenny hugs the little girl and comforts her as she probably wasn’t comforted after she was attacked as a child. That’s a very therapeutic thing and a beautiful scene. Is Jenny on the mend? Did Ann Wilson heal her? It wouldn’t be her first. Have you heard Ann Wilson live? Trust me, you will never be the same again.

But then Jenny is a home. It’s dawn and she’s taking a bath. Shane and Carmen are spent from a night of love making, but they’re heading out to the hospital to go meet the new baby. Jenny pulls a razor blade from the cabinet and starts to cut on her leg. Shane finds her carving bloody marks on her legs. Shane just hugs her and tells her she’s going to get her help. Jenny admits she needs help. As powerful as she is, Ann Wilson was not enough. But let’s all be thankful Jenny is going to get some help.

Welcome Baby Angelica

Bette is holding the new baby and the girls all come to meet her. They pass her around, one by one telling her how beautiful she is and how small her feet are. Tina hasn’t held the baby yet. She’s still in recovery. Is she okay? We aren’t really sure.

The second season of The L Word ends with the most lesbian song ever, Testimony, written by and sang by Sweet Honey in the Rock.
