Here’s a recap of The L Word, Season 2, Episode 4, “Lynch Pin.”

Bette’s Alive! And her clothes have dried out!

Whew! Bette’s not dead. She’s in New York trying to convince Helena Peabody to give money to the California Arts Center. See Helena took over the Peabody Foundation from her mother Peggy who retired. It turns out Helena has different priorities than her mom. She wants to help homeless women, hungry children. Bette makes an impassioned plea, “Helena, civilizations wither and die without the arts.” Helena says she’ll think about it.

Our first glimpse of Helena is in a therapy session. She and her counselor are practicing transference. Or is it counter transference? Which one is it when you want to sleep with your therapist? Either way, they’re transferring bodily fluids and that can’t be in Helena’s treatment plan. Here’s what I think, this isn’t really a therapist, it’s Helena and her girlfriend acting out a fantasy.

I guess Helena has to keep up with her mother, who Bette visits to try and get her to make Helena give the Arts Center money. But Peggy’s got other things on her mind, namely a hot Italian gigolo she’s in bed with. Peggy doesn’t’ speak Italian. It’s a good thing she’s rich enough to hire an interpreter who’s comfortable in the bedroom. Who writes this stuff?

Roommate Wanted

Back in L.A. Shane and Jenny interview roommates. One guy wants to be naked. Jenny and Shane don’t think this is the kind of roommate they want. Yet there’s Jenny sitting on the couch in a mini skirt with her legs up. Jenny, you’re showing your world to us. One thing I do love is watching Jenny and Shane’s friendship develop. They even walk into The Planet holding hands. They’re such lesbian roommates. I love that!

Lawyerly Love

Bette’s out of town so Tina and lawyer Joyce walk through Bette’s house taking inventory of all of Bette’s expensive artwork so they can be sure Tina gets her fair share. One of the paintings laughs at Tina. Or is that Bette laughing? One person who’s certainly laughing is Lawyer Joyce who thinks she’s got Tina in the bag. We’ll see about that famous lawyer lady!!

Kit’s big Toe

Kit wants to improve her business so she goes to TOE (The Theory of Everything) seminar. Charles Dutton guest stars as the self-help guru Benjamin Bradshaw. I think Benjamin likes Kit. Either that or he wants more of her money, because he convinces Kit to raise the price on her famous pear polenta tart by five dollars. Five dollars! Are you kidding? How else are you going to earn enough money to come to my advance seminar, Kit? Is this one of those cults?

Tina gets her boob grabbed

Joyce keeps visiting Tina in her “guest cottage.” She calls her endearing (gag) names like “Little Lady” and “Sweet Cheeks”. She pretends to listen to Tina, but really she’s just checking out Tina’s ever growing boobs. Tina leaves her a plant as a thank you gift. Joyce takes this as an invitation. She moves in for the kill. “Come on, give us a hug,” Joyce says. Tina obliges and the next thing she knows, Joyce is grabbing her boob. Finally, Tina stands up for herself. “No, Jesus, no!” she screams. Joyce finally gets the message. Tina packs a bag and leaves. But where will she go?
