The L Word Recaps Season 3, Episode 4-page 2
"Light My Fire"

From Mary Foulk, About.com Guest

Pam Grier as Kit and Alan Cumming as Billie

Paul Michaud/Showtime

Hello, Dylan!

You can show your documentary to me any day. How gorgeous is Alexandra Hedison? Nice addition to the show. Really, really nice. So Helena has found a new obsession and it is a documentary film, I mean filmmaker, named Dylan aka Ms. Hedison. There is a conflict, however. Dylan is “straight.” Let’s not forget what Alice the Great declared in Season One: “Most girls are straight, until they’re not.” I have this giddy feeling that Helena will rise to the challenge.

Alice’s Bush Bash

No longer allowed by her producer to talk about Dana, Alice turns to politics; more specifically, George Bush the Dickhead. Has a nice ring doesn’t it? She waxes on and on about Bush’s Weapon of Mass Destruction. Asks, is there a bend in the Bush administration? It is pure radio suicide but also pure comic genius, what we know and love about Alice and Leisha Hailey. If The Chart is going to fall, this is the best reason for its descent.

Other Blah Blah

Carmen has her priorities straight where Shane is concerned. The red flag: Does Shane? Billie has Moira/Max’s “number” and encourages him to pursue “The Life.” Kit could be Angus’s grandmother but is nonetheless fascinated by his little booty. Jenny burns her manuscript, Some of My Parts. Can you see why the publishers aren’t calling?

Best and Worst

The Best of Episode 4: amazing guest “whores” like Russell Simmons and the sexy sexy Dana Delaney; the super cool Billie Jean King, where would we be without you; Shane’s hair, which, although we were worried in the season opener, seems to get funkier with each episode; and, lastly, Helena. I think I’m falling in love.

The Worst: sloppy editing and the weird science lab lighting; um, Frank?; Carmen’s cleaning ability, how many paper towels does one need?; the mere mention of George Bush, but bless you Ilene for going there, repeatedly; and finally, a question about product placement, could you hit us over the head just a wee bit more? Very very sub-tle.

Your L Word Homework

What are your favorite lines from The L Word? As you can see above, I have one or two, or ten, thousand…Did I mention that OCD runs in my family? It’s genetic, I think. Anyway. Your homework: Reflect on the lines that make you go Hmmmm.
