Top 10 Lesbian Holiday Gifts for 2006

By

This holiday season, give the lesbian on your list something special. All the gifts in this year's lesbian holiday gift guide are from lesbian-owned or lesbian-friendly businesses. There's something here for every budget. A few of the companies even donate money to causes near and dear to the gay and lesbian community. Here are my top picks for holiday gift giving for 2006.

1. Live Love Bracelet

Normally I would say rainbow thing is so over, but I do love this bracelet. It’s rubber and stainless steel and quite classy. ($29)

2. Women Artist Datebook 2007

Everyone can use a datebook and I haven’t found one I like better than the Women Artists Datebook 2007 published by Syracuse Cultural Workers. With photographs, oil paintings and poems to pass the days. Plus there’s an inspirational quote each week and it’s just the right size for a purse or small backpack. ($13.95)

3. The Bunny Love Gift Pack

The Bunny Love gift pack from Babeland is sure to be a hit that will have you hopping into the sack for some yuletide fun. You’ve seen the “rabbit habit” on Sex in the City. This fun sex toy spins, vibrates, rotates and practically does the dishes! The gift pack comes with lube, sex toy cleaner, condoms and at Babeland, even the batteries are fun—adorned with sexy ladies and transvestites. ($99)

4. L Word Inspired Ring

Thinking of getting her a ring this Christmas? The 18k white gold female insignia band inspired by The L Word is the perfect way to say you love her womanly ways. ($595)

5. Personalized Tuxedo Shirt

This tuxedo shirt from lesbian-owned designer Rigged Outfitters has a classic look and great fit. It's perfect for a night on the town with your special lady. Best of all, you can personalize it with your own message.($45)

6. Tom Boy Cap

I love this cap. With the Dykes in the City logo, it fits my small head and looks great on butches, bois and femmes and everyone in between. $20

7. Peace Pendant

If there’s one thing this world can use a little more of right now, it’s peace. What better way to show it than to hang this elegant peace symbol around her neck? This pendant is made of sand and assembled grain-by-grain by Tibetan Monks. It has been blessed with a prayer for Love for the wearer and for the world. What could be better than that? $165

8. Until There's a Cure Bracelet

Sure you can buy a fancy and beautiful bracelet, but why not get her one that will also help the fight against AIDS? The Until There’s a Cure foundation raises funds and awareness of HIV/AIDS. Different metals ($25-$475)

9. Safe Haven LGBT Youth Benefit CD

She remembers what it was like to be a lesbian teen, alone and scared. Get her this CD and she can groove along and feel good knowing that proceeds go to help gay and lesbian youth at the Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center. With Le Tigre, Sleater-Kinney, Ashleigh Flynn and the Indigo Girls, this album is sure to appeal to the lesbian music fan. ($16)

10. The Ellen DeGeneres Show: DVD-licious (DVD)

Going to see Ellen live was one of the highlights of my year in 2004. If you can’t get her tickets to the show, the next best thing is to get her the Ellen DVD-licious. The DVD is comes with show out-takes including Ellen’s stand up routine, dancing, celebrity guests including Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kucher and many other musical guests and non-celebrities, who in my opinion are the funniest anyway. ($19.98)
