How did you come out to your parents?
I came out to my mom yesterday morning. I am 14 and I told her face-to-face during a fight...long story...
What did you say?
We had gotten into a fight because I didn't want to go to school. I told her I was depressed over Brittney [the ex gf and bff] and she wanted to know how I could be depressed over her. I ended up blurting out that she was my ex girlfriend. And that was the end of the fight.
She later, in the car at my bus stop, asked me how far me and her got. I would have busted out laughing if I hadn't been crying already. When I got home she asked again and my resposce was, "Not far, not far at all." We both started laughing. My mom is totally supportive of it and my friends are too, in fact three of my friends are bi...that I know of.
I don't think I will tell my dad or his parents or his relatives because they are very Christian and both me and my mom are afraid they will cut my college fund and I really need that money...
I am planning on taking part in A Day Of Silence but just not talking...I don't want to announce to the whole school I am a lesbian. Even me and my bi friends talk in secret. It's actually very funny if you ask me.
Advice
- Do you think your parents are deeply religious? Maybe tell them after you got what you need from them...meaning college money etc.
- Tell your friends first, if they accept it and they get along being themselves around your parents plan on telling your mom and or dad.
- Stand up for what you believe in. You are bi, les, gay, trans...whatever, and no one can change you - not even yourself. :]
- Good luck
