How did you come out to your parents?
Coming out to my mom...my dad has been out-of-the picture for years, was much easier than I thought. I called her the day after I asked my husband of 16 years for a divorce. I went to her house the next day. I did not tell her the events of the night before, his arrest...the kids and I hiding from him at friends houses.
What did you say?
I told her about the impending divorce and she immediately expressed her relief(it was a bad marriage) and then asked me if there was someone else...I admitted there was and when she asked me what his name was...I replied, Amy. She was so supportive, didn't miss a beat and informed me she had been with with a woman years before...OMG wow way to steal my thunder. It's been 4 years and Amy is the best addition to our family. I think my mom talks to her more than she talks to me...but it's all good, the kids love Amy and have come to see her as the most amazing thing that could happen the their mom.
Advice
- Be brave, follow your heart...it will be bad for awhile but better in the end
