How did you come out to your parents?

I told my mom first and I just texted her, "hey mom I'm a lesbian." She reacted very calmly and asked a few questions. I then told my dad and he was as shocked as could be. He would hardly even talk to me after i told him, but eventually he calmed down. Things are still a little awkward between my family i and i but things are getting better. I hope that very soon i can bring home my girlfriend to meet them. I hope my dad doesn't freak out.
Advice
- My mom called him down so that went well.
- I would have told then to their faces.
- We get along pretty well, we have our ups and downs
- I think if you are going to tell you parents you are a lesbian. Start with you mom. She will most likely handle it better then your dad
