Where I met my partner?
It started out rather unromantic--we met online, got to know each other, and decided to become exclusive. The 2400 miles between us make it difficult still, but we work hard to make our relationship a successful one.
How we fell in love
When we finally met for the first time, we were six months in. It was over the summer. I was staying at my father's apartment in Kentucky, and she drove up from Tennessee to visit. She called and told me that she had parked at a coffee shop down the street. After primping for a few more minutes and drawing a breath of confidence, I walked down the street in the hot weather to the building.
It was dim inside. I'd never been in there, before, so I wasn't quite sure where to go. I was told during the phone call that she was in a back room. After a few seconds of searching I found the room entrance. She was standing alone with her back to me, hands clutching a magazine from the long table in front of her. I smiled and knocked on the side of the doorway. She put the magazine down and turned around to show a face as nervous as my own. We just kind of moved towards each other and hugged so tightly... standing in the same spot for a long time. I don't remember specifically who moved first, but one hand grasped the other and lead us to the couch in the room. We sat together, and she held me with her arm around my shoulder, my arms around her waist.
All alone in that coffee shop room, cuddled together on that couch, was perfection.
Advice
- Don't let distance ruin a good relationship. We've certainly had our ups and downs, and it's been very difficult. But almost four years later, we're still very in love and still willing to work hard until we're finished with college. Things like Skype and text messages and online flower orders make the 2400 miles seem much smaller.
