Joe Biden on LGBT Issues

Sunday August 24, 2008
When I heard that Barack Obama had chosen Joe Biden as his running mate, of course the first thing I wanted to know about him was where he stood on issues of importance to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. In doing my research, I was pleased to find out that Senator Obama picked a partner who seems to share his values about the issues of the LGBT community. Here's what we know about Joe Biden and his stance on LGBT issues.

In the 12 years since Biden supported the Defense of Marriage Act. What has Biden done but say that he supports us. Where are my tax breaks for being a couple? Where is my right to even have a civil union? I am tired of the Democratic rhetoric. There is no woman on the ballot…but they want my vote. They day they support gays and lesbians…but where is there voting action…other than to support the DMA…which did not help any of us. I intend to support the Dems in the fall the same way they have supported me…I am going to SAY I support them, but not really do anything about it.

Lastnight during the debate John McCain began a sentence saying “What I think, I don’t know.” Someone in the Democratic party should play that one over and over again. He needs serious help.
