As Vancouver and Whistler, BC are gearing up to host the Olympic Games February 12-28th, 2010, lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans athletes for the first time will have a place to call their own.
Pride House in Whistler and Vancouver, BC will be a place for LGBT athletes, their families and friends to gather, watch the events, trade pins and meet one another. Even more, Pride House could be a lifeline for athletes from countries where homosexuality is considered illegal.
Pride House will be open from February 8th through to March 24th and will open for three events: The Olympics (Feb. 12-28), WinterPRIDE (Mar. 1-8), and the Paralympics (Mar. 12-21).

YES, YES, YES that’s great, a place of their own for gay athletes. I think that will provide more privacy and also assist in keeping the gay athletes safer. I get so tired of people saying we want to be exclusive, different and all that other stuff. We are different and what’s wrong with being exclusive? I like my privacy and am so happy to hear the gay athletes will have their own space, there’s hope for those heterosexuals yet.
The Pride House in Whistler during the 2010 Olympics will be a huge success! I know it was at the 2009 Whistler Film Festival, it was awesome!
I am thrilled that in Canada’s open society were we are welcome as full members we still see a need on a world scale to have a welcoming spot for GLBT athletes to gather. This will be for some athletes the first time they are away from home and perhaps the first time they will be able to feel free to be who they are! This is totally wonderful!
Congrats! It’s about time that the Gay / Lesbian community can meet together on the world stage and share common ground! Way to go Canada!!!!!!!
That’s great, I’m sure they’ll make us all proud.
I’m a single africanlady wishing to get in touch with a loving and caring lesbian 35yrs and above.
Happy new year
