Britney and long-time friend Jason Alexander decided to do something wild and crazy. They got married in Las Vegas. On a whim, without much thought, the two raced to the Little White Chapel and said, I do.
Yet, gay and lesbian couples, who have put years of thought, commitment and preparation into their unions still have no way to get them legally recognized. Suddenly all those arguments about the sanctity of marriage seem to not hold much weight.
Whats the solution? Should we outlaw Las Vegas quickies? No, we should open the legal institution of marriage to committed same-sex couples, so that they may share in the rights and responsibilities that any two impulsive opposite sex people take for granted.
