Where I met my partner?
The first time I saw her, was actually math class (I was taking grade 10 in grade 11 as I was upgrading my previous math grade) and when she walked in, I knew that I wanted her to be mine. A friend of hers was friends with one of my friends and we met through that connection and we had a few other classes together. I used to drop my pencil under her desk and shyly ask her to retrieve it for me.I just wanted her to talk to me and pay attention to me. Sometimes she would ask me for help with her math and I couldn't concentrate, all i saw was her looking at me.
How we fell in love
I didn't know if she was gay or straight, but I didn't let that stop me. Whenever i saw her walk down the hall past me, all conversation stopped and all I could do was watch her go by. It was a strange thing being gay in high school - no one looked at me any different and when I started dating my girl, people would invite us to more parties, wanna hang out with us more - we were almost like celebrities, haha.
She was having problems with her home life and the other friends we had were too wrapped up in their lives to listen to her or help her out, so i did the best i could with my limited experience (I came from a very wholesome family with amazing parents and siblings whereas she came from a very broken home with experience of mild physical abuse and lots of verbal abuse). I tried to be there for her as much as I could, listen and let her cry on my shoulder. When I wasn't working, i was thinking about her, or talking to her, or hanging out with her. A friend of mine asked her out while I was away on vacation one summer and they told me online. I was angry and hurt, but i didn't let her know, as she didn't know I had strong feelings for her. Shortly after I returned from vacation, they broke up and I asked her to a movie as 'just friends'. We ended up cuddling in the football field after the movie and holding hands on the way home. I took her to prom; me in my dad's best suit and her in the grad dress of her dreams with our matching orchids. I can't imagine life without her now, and can't remember life before her. i knew she was the one for me the first time I ever laid my eyes on her. We've been together 4 years and are planning our wedding in another 3.
Advice
- Go for it. If you're looking for the real deal, wait until you get those butterflies and you just can't stop smiling everytime you think about her. When you're waiting for her to text you back, even if it's just an 'lol'. I constantly check my phone for my girl to text me back, even when we're talking about taking the garbage out. Wait for that connection that makes you go 'wow'. It's totally worth it. Don't let anyone stand in your way; if you want her, go get her.
